National Schools of Character

  • Each year, Character.org recognizes schools across the country who are doing outstanding things with character education.  These schools are distinguished by the fact that the adults in the building embrace their role as models for students.  The entire school staff works collaboratively with students, parents, and community members.  All stakeholders aim to positively shape the social, emotional, and character development of the young people in their community. Students in schools of character report feeling safe, respected, and connected to others around them.  Because of this, they thrive both socially and academically.

    Parkway Schools was named a National School District of Character in 2017. The following twelve schools have also been nationally recognized for exemplary work in character education:

    National Leader in Me Lighthouse Schools

    The Lighthouse Milestone is a highly regarded standard set by FranklinCovey that is attainable by every Leader in Me School.
