John L. Baker Music Scholars Award
Parkway high-school students in the 10th or 11th grade who also participate in concert, marching or jazz band are encouraged to apply for the John Baker Music Scholars Award.
In order to apply for the John L. Baker Music Scholars Award, a student must:
- Be a Parkway student of sophomore or junior standing
- Be a current member of the concert, marching or jazz band at your school
- Complete the Granting Dreams form AND attach the John Baker Music Scholars Award form.
The award is intended to encourage high-school band students to expand their music studies and to make their high-school band stronger through their leadership and good example. This grant can provide funds up to $250 per grantee.
Dr. John Baker was director of bands at Parkway South High School for many years. His legacy continues to thrive in Parkway, thanks to the John L. Baker Scholarship Fund. The fund was established to support the principles he espoused: excellence in musicianship, leadership and character.
