Welcome to Miss Rahn's 2nd Grade!
Meet Miss Rahn:
Hello and welcome to another wonderful school year. My name is Courtney Rahn and I am one of the 2nd Grade teachers here at McKelvey. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
To begin with, I am a Parkway kid! I grew up attending Hanna Woods Elementary School, Green Trails Elementary School, Central Middle School and Central High School. (In fact not only did all my siblings graduate from Parkway Central High School, my mom and her siblings did too!) After graduating from Central High, I attended Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in English and then a Master's of Arts in Education degree with a certification in Elementary Education. I also hold an Early Childhood teaching certificate.
This is my 18th year teaching at McKelvey. I have taught Kindergarten, Kindergarten Intervention, First Grade, Second Grade, and have been a Mizzou Fellows Mentor. My teaching career began in 2nd Grade and I am excited to be teaching 2nd grade again this year!
I grew up in a family of 4 children. I have an older sister, Kerry; an older brother, Chris; and a younger brother, Griffin. I also have 2 nieces and 3 nephews. I am lucky enough to have all my siblings and their families living close to me in St. Louis. My mom lives in St. Louis as well and in fact is a retired Elementary Spanish teacher. My dad lives in Des Moines, Iowa.
I am a momma to one sweet little boy, Macklen! It has been a delight and a treasure to be his momma, and I have enjoyed watching him learn and grow! He will be 4 years old in January and is such a fun little guy, but constantly keeps me on my toes! We love playing together, especially being outside or anything that has to do with playing cars, trucks or trains!
Aside from my son, I have many other favorites as well. I love Cardinal baseball and enjoy going to Busch Stadium for games when possible; I love to travel in the summer...especially to warm places that have a beach; I love anything chocolate; and I love spending time with my family and friends.
I am excited about this school year and look forward to working with McKelvey 2nd Grade students!
