Updated health and mask guidelines
5/14/2021 -- The following message was sent to families and staff today:
We wanted to take a moment to update you on our plans in response to new health guidelines just released from the St. Louis County Department of Public Health and the CDC. The new guidance advises vaccinated individuals are not required to wear masks in most public settings.
We are excited about this new direction for our community, our country and our schools. This announcement signals a positive turn in the pandemic as more individuals are vaccinated and cases remain low.
We do anticipate the CDC will follow up with more guidelines specific to schools. The new guidance from St. Louis County recommends students and staff continue wearing masks in school settings at this time.
As you know, there are a number of unique considerations for students and staff in a school setting, as we serve children of all ages. Most of our students do not qualify for vaccination yet, have not had time to complete vaccination or may choose not to be vaccinated.
As soon as we have more information, we will share our plans which will be consistent with new guidance. In the meantime, we will continue our current health practices through the remaining days of this school year. Community Education programs will continue to align with our district guidelines.
In the coming days, we are looking forward to celebrating the wonderful accomplishments of our students. I always feel a great deal of pride and gratitude this time of year for our students, teachers, staff and families. We look forward to honoring our graduating seniors next week on their last day of school Tuesday and at our graduation ceremonies.
I hope we all can end this year feeling excited about this positive new direction and hopeful for our future ahead.
Sincerely,
Dr. Keith Marty
