Three Parkway teachers earn Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award
11/23/2021 -- Three Parkway teachers have been selected as winners of the 2021 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award -- Erica Kirn, Bellerive Elementary; Leigh Klawiter, West Middle; Amie Gossett, West High. Klawiter is a school counselor, Gossett teaches theatre and Kirn is a third-grade teacher.
Kirn, Klawiter and Gossett and are among more than 80 teachers from across the St. Louis metropolitan area who are being recognized as examples of truly outstanding educational excellence.
The Emerson Excellence in Teaching Awards, now in its 32nd year, is one of the St. Louis region’s most recognized teacher recognition programs. Emerson sponsors the program as a way of helping the St. Louis community express our collective admiration and gratitude for their dedication to teaching our area’s students.
In early December, Emerson will have the Excellence in Teaching Award delivered to each honoree’s school. This delivery will include an engraved crystal apple from Tiffany & Co., along with some additional tokens of appreciation. Emerson recognized the honorees in a commemorative advertisement that appeared in the Sunday edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on November 21.
