Twenty-five Parkway students selected as National Merit Semifinalists
9/13/2024 – Twenty-five Parkway high school seniors have been named semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. Semifinalists represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
Approximately 16,000 students nationwide were selected as semifinalists, and 95% will become finalists. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 6,870 National Merit Scholarships, worth nearly $26 million, which will be offered next spring.
Over 1.3 million students entered the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. A semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT® or ACT® scores that confirm the student’s performance on the PSAT/NMSQT®.
