Vaccine Update

January 19, 2021

Dear Parkway Staff,

I would like to provide you with an update on the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine for Parkway employees.

Last week, Governor Mike Parson announced new details about Phase 1B of Missouri's COVID-19 vaccination plan. Phase 1B now includes tiers for prioritization, and the vaccine is now available for anyone who qualifies for Tier 1 or 2. Read complete details about the Phase 1B Tiers here. These groups are outlined below:

  • Tier 1: First responders, emergency services and public health;

  • Tier 2: People who are at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19, including individuals over age 65 as well as any adult who suffers from certain underlying conditions;

  • Tier 3: Critical infrastructure workforce members, including teachers and school staff members.

The Tier 3 group includes anyone who works for a public or a private school. The state is not differentiating between teachers and other support staff positions. This also includes individuals who provide contract services to schools, such as substitute teachers and contracted bus drivers, therapists, food service workers, custodians, etc.

It is important to note that any Parkway employee who qualifies for Tier 2 may receive the vaccine now. Your membership in the Tier 2 prioritization supersedes Tier 3 and people in Tier 2 can receive the vaccine now.

See below for information on how Missouri residents can sign up to receive the vaccine.

In addition to these resources, many hospital systems are also currently making appointments for their patients who qualify for vaccination in Tier 1 and 2. Reach out to your healthcare provider for more information:

We will continue to explore all avenues to ensure our employees have access to a vaccine as soon as possible.

As more information becomes available, we will share updates. Thank you again for your commitment to helping us maintain healthy learning environments. If you have any questions, you can reach out to the Health Services Department or your school nurse.
