IMMUNIZATIONS
Students are required Missouri State Law to be current with immunizations for the school year 2024-2025.Immunizations may be obtained through your health care provider or through the Department of Health Clinics. Students entering 12th grade must complete the Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV) prior to the start of school in August. Two doses of MCV are required unless the first dose was administered to a student who was 16 years of age or older, in which case only one dose is required. More information can be found here.
If your child receives any vaccinations, send a copy of the completed immunization form to the school nurse, Amy Laur, c/o Parkway South High School, 801 Hanna Rd., Ballwin, MO 63021. Please send immunization information before the first day of school. Immunization forms may also be sent by fax: (314) 415-9530 or by email alaur@parkwayschools.net
HEALTH CONCERNS
- If there are health problems that may impact a student’s activities or attendance at school, please provide this information in writing to the nurse.
- When your child is ill with a fever of 100 or more, your student should stay home for at least 24 hours until fever-free without the help of medication. If your child has diarrhea or vomiting, your student should also stay home symptom-free for 24 hours without the help of medication.
- When a student becomes ill at school, the student is encouraged to come to the nurse’s office to call a parent/guardian. The nurse will assist the student and parent/guardian with whatever course of action is needed.
PLEASE CONSULT THE SCHOOL NURSE
- If your child is hospitalized or is under a physician’s care, that may impact attendance or activities at school. Provide a copy of the hospital discharge or other medical information to the nurse or counselor when he returns to school.
- Regarding any contagious disease such as chicken pox, mono, strep throat, or lice.
- With any medical information you would like to share.
- Regarding any prolonged illness that results in absence longer than one week.
