Welcome our future Superintendent Dr. Melissa Schneider

ecc12/11/24 - Dr. Melissa Schneider will be Parkway’s next superintendent effective July 1, 2025, the Board of Education has announced.

Dr. Schneider comes from the Thompson School District in Loveland, Colorado, a suburban school district similar in size to Parkway. There, she serves as Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services. She has 27 years of experience in education and a track record of fostering academic excellence, expanding innovative career pathways, and championing equity-focused initiatives. Under her leadership, her district’s graduation rates have steadily risen, and new career-focused programs in manufacturing, public safety, and artificial intelligence have taken root and flourished, preparing students for success.

Dr. Schneider’s focus is ensuring that all students, regardless of background, have access to high-quality educational opportunities. Her collaborative approach is rooted in listening and relationship building.

Her selection is the result of a national search led by Hazard Young Attea Associates (HYA) with input from our staff, students, families, and community. Their voices through surveys and focus groups helped create a Leadership Profile that shaped the Board’s selection, ensuring our next leader reflects our community’s values and priorities.

“We are confident that Dr. Schneider is the right leader to take Parkway into the future,” said Jeff Todd, President of the Parkway Board of Education. “The board was impressed by her focus on putting students first, building strong relationships, listening, and empowering students, staff, and families. We are excited to welcome her to the Parkway community.”

“I am honored to join Parkway and build on its strong foundation of excellence,” Dr. Schneider said. “Parkway is committed to many of the things that matter to me – student well-being, academic success, continuous improvement, and a supportive community. I look forward to spending the next few months listening, learning, and working alongside Dr. Marty as we prepare to make the transition.”

Dr. Schneider and Dr. Marty will work together over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition and continuity. Dr. Marty will retire on June 30 after 14 years as superintendent.
