The Art Department offers a comprehensive variety of courses which are designed to enhance the individual artistic abilities of all students. Through studio work, art students will learn to see in new ways, be encouraged to think creatively, and develop an understanding of aesthetics. The beginning level courses of Drawing l and Design Arts serve as prerequisites for other courses in the department. Painting l and Advanced Drawing Strategies require Drawing l specifically.  The following courses are available for college credit for juniors and seniors through UMSL: Advanced Drawing, Ceramics I, Digital Design I and II, as well as Photo I and II. Art History I and II, which are honors classes, have no prerequisite and are offered for 11th and 12th grades.
